Hi all! I went to the London Expo over the weekend of 29th-30th October with Chris, Mike and Kate (and we met up with Stu and Ian there). For those of you who do not know what the expo is about...well....its like a huge place where they sell lotsa anime and sci-fi stuff, as well as having various stars from each area present.......but heres the catch: They charged 15 POUNDS for people to get their autographs or picture.....how truly revolting, how truly sickening! Move that aside for now.....The journey to Staines, where Stu lives, was eventful in that all the passengers of Chris' car contracted motion sickness. The resultant effect being myslef and Mike falling asleep, and Kate hanging her head out of the window.....had she wagged her tonguew, the motion would have been complete! We got there ok; Chris and Kate went to stay with Ian, whilst myself and Mike went with Stu to his place. It was a nice place, and it was really cool that they let us stay there for the weekend, i am truly grateful for that!
First day of the expo I ran around like a headless chicken trying to take pictures of the cooooool stars there. Among the lucky few who benefitted from either my own, Mike's or Stu's photography were the likes of Bruce Boxleitner, Michael York, Alice Krige, Elisabeth Rohn, Anna Louise Plowman, The Dudleys (or whatever the hell they're called now),etc, etc. It all came together perfectly when I met a kindly soul by the name of Sarah who gave me a free coupon for an autograph, which i consequently HAD to use to meet Michael York...i mean, what a LEGEND!! D'Artagnan.....a true star! (Needless to say, I was quite happy!)
Over the weekend, I bought like 8 dvds and 2 videos for 23 quid, which was money well spent methinks! On the Sunday, myself and Stu made an incursion to Oxford Circus for the Rammstein signing....only to realise that it was taking place at 12am rather than pm....We were NOT going to wait til midnight! Dejected by this, we rushed back to the London Expo, and had fun running around randomly! There was a Garnier stall promoting their new Manga Head gel....so we all approached with due deference and had our hair restyled...it was coooooool!! We all looked pretty cool...although Chris did look like a woman, oh well!
The same day, we had to travel back home. As we set out on our jorney, Chris' car started making weird sounds....a long story short, I ended up dancing aside the M4 just before J15 (near Swindon...of all bloody hillbilly places to be stranded) to prevent my body from freezing. The guy from a local garage, sent out on behalf of the AA told us the car was fine, but the tracking was severely out.....We all had our doubts about the car getting home, so it accumulated in the passengers getting out at J17 to be picked up by Mike's dad (a true saint). Main thing is, everyone got home ok and in one piece....so all is well!
CARDIFF LAW FAIR
THEN....just the second day after getting back, I had to get up early to go to Cardiff to go to the law fair. Luckily, my aikido compadre Marcin was going, so we had a whale of time talking loads both on the journey there and back. There were only 16 people on the coach....and 3 of those were only going for the shopping....It kinda reflects badly on the law faculty, but oh well.....Anyway, we got there, everyone split up. Myself and Marcin worked as a team and went to almost every stall present. Bear in mind, the fair was only opewn for 3 hours....so we ran out of time, having to lead the last 7/8 stalls. But we did go to EVERY other stall, talked to each firm for a long period of time each, and consequently bagged lots of freebies! But freebies aside, we learnt a lot of valuable information that day...which was cool.
We got back around 9, and had to head straight for Aikido. It was unnerving being there and not training.....as well as the fact that everyone kept staring at me for the fact that I was wearing a suit in the dojo....lol. Anyways, after that, went home, got some sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep......Peace out!
